ICSO promotes global public welfare development
The International Common Support Organization (ICSO), also known as ICSO, is an international public welfare team composed of Chinese international students worldwide. Since its establishment in 2017, ICSO has adhered to the original intention of “promoting global public welfare development”, with the goal of creating a global public welfare platform for Chinese students.
After years of development, ICSO has established three branches worldwide: ICSO · CN, ICSO · UK, and ICSO · US. It operates over 150 public welfare projects in 12 countries and 54 regions, with over 5000 overseas student volunteers and a total fundraising amount of over 2 million US dollars. It is the world’s largest Chinese student welfare organization.
Yao Jitong introduced that ICSO adopts the most efficient cloud management mode, which integrates efficiency, collaboration, closed-loop and management. The collaborative management system integrated into the Internet improves the office efficiency while making employees bid farewell to the era of “information silo” in the organization.
During the 2020 epidemic, ICSO International Public Welfare Organization and the China Social Assistance Foundation jointly distributed 100000 free masks to major hospitals in Wuhan, while distributing 15000 free masks to Wuhan citizens and selling 45000 affordable masks to society.
All of this is thanks to the model and mechanism of international public welfare organizations. We have established a “cloud management mechanism” in compliance with policies and laws in various regions, where highly centralized decision-making is most urgent, even without any linkage or touch in daily work. At critical moments, we can mobilize and quickly coordinate resources from three places -15 minutes to purchase masks, and develop a global procurement plan. In fact, the number of masks ultimately distributed far exceeds this number. Our team is also very familiar with my work style internally, with a high level of mutual trust and understanding, which is a good team ecology.
ICSO not only truly provides an internationally recognized public welfare organization platform for Chinese international students, but also assists them in their study abroad journey. The business logic it embodies is also worth referencing.
No business, no public welfare
Yao Jitong stated that the world today is an era full of challenges. In the process of finding an effective way to survive in the post pandemic era, it is important to reform our economy and business to make them more resilient and sustainable. A truly successful enterprise not only needs to make money, but also has value to the world.

Yao Jitong introduced that the co beneficial enterprise movement is largely a direct response to the harmful workplace culture, poor environmental standards, and profit centered thinking patterns that have long dominated the business community. This is a movement initiated by the people, and now it is developing together with other movements or organizations with similar ideas, including the B Team founded by Virgin Group founder Richard Branson and the conscious capitalist movement initiated by John McGee, CEO of Whole Foods Supermarket.
Yao Jitong believes that “no business is without public welfare”, and “commerce” and “public welfare” are essentially the same thing and have the same origin; Public welfare is only a manifestation of another level of commerce and a special field of commerce. We believe that public welfare and commerce are highly linked and overlapping
ICSO International Public Welfare Support Organization has a stable funding chain structure, which greatly enhances the social integrity, resource sharing, and development synergy of public welfare organizations on the basis of traditional public welfare organizations, opening up a broader stage for the promotion of traditional charity.
Three major charitable directions
In addition, ICSO’s public welfare vision is not limited to domestic public welfare projects, but rather has opened branches in China, the United States, and the United Kingdom with a global perspective. Its project categories are also very diverse, and internationalization allows ICSO to have greater freedom to carry out diversified public welfare projects with partners from various countries. From life to learning, ICSO is ubiquitous and involves every aspect of life.
The main areas of ICSO are poverty alleviation and education assistance, environmental protection, and social assistance. Following the environmental projects “Blue Heart” and “Love of Evergreens” launched by ICSO.UK in the UK, and the social assistance and public welfare projects “Light Carriers” and “Love Transmitters” launched by ICSO.US in the US, ICSO.CN in China has also initiated and successfully implemented multiple poverty alleviation and student assistance public welfare projects such as “One Box of Milk, One Kind Heart”, “One Classroom, One Love”, and “Eagle Project”.
The ICSO International Public Welfare Support Organization collaborates with the International Public Welfare White Paper (ICWP) program to support the use of more effective and innovative methods to solve social problems by building major professional public welfare organizations and foundations around the world. It is also responsible for organizing and collaborating with various schools, members, and universities. Public welfare organizations execute projects based on the ICWP program and ICWP books, assisting in driving global public welfare actions.
In May 2021, ICSO International Public Welfare Support Organization collaborated with Yibeiti Youth Public Welfare College to launch the “Bounded Light” public welfare research project. With the support of the International Public Welfare White Paper Alliance (ICWP), a special psychological health education program was established to provide volunteers with public welfare and academic guidance, allowing them to supplement local students with less involved content in daily teaching and bring them useful and interesting scientific knowledge; Help mountain children to establish the concept and attitude of willing to learn and active learning, and strengthen the establishment and comprehensive development of their healthy psychology.
Yao Jitong stated that public welfare is not limited to a certain form and model. In people’s previous understanding, public welfare is about donating money to do good things, and “public welfare” is just a vague concept. This one-sided understanding to some extent weakens the significance of public welfare, and public welfare goes far beyond this. The academic reports and projects with scientific research value in this activity will lay the foundation for volunteers to choose their future disciplines.
The ultimate goal of public welfare is to provide happiness to people, allowing more or even all people to understand and experience public welfare, which is the other shore that society needs to reach. People’s values often come from their own life experiences and ways of thinking. The path of public welfare has been strengthened over time, and rational public welfare has become the mainstream of society.
