On November 1, 2020, the book launch event for A Misty Rain and Ren Pingsheng: My 25 Years in International Education was successfully held at Shenzhen Book City Central City. The event was attended by Dr. Yin Changlong, Party Secretary and Chairman of Shenzhen Publishing Group; Professor Li Yonghua, Vice President of Shenzhen University; Professor Wang Qingguo, Executive Chairman of Shenzhen Education Industry Association; and other distinguished guests. The event also featured a roundtable discussion on studying abroad.

The new book, inspired by a line from the Northern Song Dynasty poet Su Dongpo’s Ding Fengbo, tells the story of young students studying abroad and reflects Professor Fu Tengxiao’s 25 years of dedication to international education. Through this book, readers gain insight into how an experienced educator has developed an enduring passion for education. Despite the challenges, Professor Fu has maintained a resilient and open-minded attitude toward life and his educational mission. His vivid description in the book underscores the idea that educators can enrich their lives through their profession and make a significant impact on society by shaping the next generation.
Professor Fu Tengxiao mentioned that he has been part of an important chapter in Shenzhen’s international education development. This new book was created to commemorate the 16th anniversary of the founding of Shenzhen International Preparatory College. “We must further develop Shenzhen International Preparatory College, ensuring that more graduates can become ambassadors of Chinese civilization and culture at top international universities, share true and vivid Chinese stories, and deepen friendships with young people from around the world,” said Professor Fu.

Professor Wang Qingguo, Executive Chairman of Shenzhen Education Industry Association, remarked that it is rare for an individual to dedicate their life to one cause, but Professor Fu has excelled in three major fields: teaching, writing, and running a school.
Regarding education, Dr. Yin Changlong, Chairman of Shenzhen Publishing Group, emphasized that education is a matter of life and soul, vital to stabilizing people’s spirits. In the context of the new era, running schools should adhere to three principles: “internationalization, human culture, and specialization,” which should be the standards for both schools and teachers.
Professor Li Yonghua, Vice President of Shenzhen University, stated that studying abroad not only involves importing science and civilization but also exporting Chinese culture. “Integrating China and the West, acting by words,” he said. Shenzhen International Preparatory College has truly implemented this motto.

This book launch event was not only a celebration of Professor Fu Tengxiao’s achievements but also highlighted the profound impact of international education on personal growth and global understanding.
